ArT - Aratos Technologies

Aratos Technologies S.A is an SME established in Patras. Aratos Technologies is an SME devoted to Research and Development of new technological solutions, methodology and practices regarding the functionality of organizations and enterprises.

The activities that the company is devoted are:

·                    Software: Aratos provides customised "turn-key" solutions related to Information Systems and Systems Integration. The company delivers quality design and development of customised applications by using high-level tools from specification capturing to testing.  The Software Engineering team works very close with the customers and helps them meet their strategic goals by recommending and implementing cost-effective and future-proof solutions. The Software Engineering expertise of the company expands in a wide range of IT applications, including Management Information Systems, Databases and Knowledge Mgmt, Data Mining, Simulation applications, Mobile Intelligent Agents, and Multimedia and e-Learning Applications.

·                    IT Consulting: Aratos Technologies S.A provides consulting services and technical support. This begins with a complete understanding of the client's company Information Technology situation, objectives and constraints. Aratos S.A Consultants perform software development, project management, infrastructure support, requirements analysis, needs assessments, audits and IT strategic planning. The cornerstone to the Aratos S.A Consultants best practices methodology is knowledge which is transferred to the client as the last and crucial component of the assignment completion. Our understanding of our clients’ corporate culture, business processes and technology requirements, enable us to deliver timely, cost-effective, quality services.

·                    Space: Some of our expertises are Earth observation studies based on SAR and multispectral data, Detection of signals in noise involves clutter and signal statistical characterization. Parameter estimation is a key issue in this case. Emphasis has been paid to Constant False Alarm Rate (CFAR) Detectors and Clutter Maps. Furthermore, signals from different sensors can be fused (Decision Fusion) for high reliability decisions, Statistical processing of SAR images since SAR images possess interesting properties for detecting various characteristics on Land or Sea, and their information depends on various factors such as the signal’s polarization. SAR statistics have been studied extensively. Currently, linear feature detection and region classification are carried out, and Pattern recognition and fusion in multispectral, hyperspectral and SAR data. Information fusion in multispectral, hyperspectral and SAR data is essential for improving image quality for monitoring, visual inspection as well as for detection and classification.

Nikos Bogonikolos is the managing director of Aratos Technologies S.A. He has more than 17 years experience in project management at both national and international levels, ranging from small to extremely large projects. He posses a very good knowledge in EU projects and is registered consultant for a number of Directorates of the European Commission, UNICE (Confederation of Associations of European Industry), Centre for the Development of Industry (ACP-EU).

Vassilis Tsagaris received his BSc in Physics in 1998, his MSc in Electronics in 2000 and his PhD in Remote Sensing in 2005, from the University of Patras, Greece. He is currently a senior consultant in Aratos and has experience in both National and European R&D projects. He serves as a reviewer in scientific journals and he has published more than 15 journal and conference papers.
