Hyperion University-is perhaps the first among the private universities in Romania. Founded in 1990, the University encompasses all the interesting  R&D specialists in the domain of IT, computers and electronic devices. Relevant to the projects, Hyperion University has the best specialists in Romania in Artificial Intelligence, including knowledge processing and management, expert systems, neural networks and so on. In the 1994-2002 period Hyperion University has developed a complex research project regarding study of the Patient-Doctor relationship, having as a result the development of several expert system prototypes with the aim to analyse and interpret the verbal and non-verbal patient signs and the primary goal to improve patient treatment. Hyperion University is also a leader in the domain of e-learning and development of training tools.

The Romanian Virusology Institute-is the Romanian national research institute in the domain of biologic risks. The institute has also an international class  research department in the domain of neural networks, genetic algorithms and applications of IT in medicine. This department has important progresses in the domain of  recognition based on knowledge structures.

Syb Consulting-is the Romanian branch of Sybase Inc, the leading world company in the database design and development software, having developed a lot of well known software (Power Designer, Power Builder, etc.) for database design and development and also for data and knowledge mining.

DOMAINS OF COMPETENCE

Regarding the domains in which we are interested to co-operate and we could bring our

competence for PatiMon, these domains would be:

A1-A3

S1

S2

Regarding the communication between the main actors in the medical process and between these actors and CAMS, we have developed models of such communications. These models became simulation prone and were cross-tested and checked with real hospital situations. In the idea of development of efficient KMS such models will be an essential step in the making of KMS. Also, we have a great experience in the development of highly efficient, object and knowledge island structured KMS.

Our designed and developed knowledge management systems are the best in Romania-considering the three main factors involved:

-knowledge acquisition;

-knowledge internal representation and storage;

-knowledge processing and retrieval;

Proposed new activities with HUn as main developer:

I-type activity-CAMS application in risk monitoring-development and usage of CAMS for specific monitoring of highly potential risks-the activity will develop and implement CAMS for highly potential risks,especially biologic ones-the CAMS will be developed taking into consideration the human-risk specific interaction, considering the actions upon doctors and patients.The CAMS will use the PIMEX method for risk assessment and other risk assessment methods and will make the main connexion between PatiMon and ESKE-KSSOH.

I-type activity-Development of CICF-Computer Interpreted Communication Frames(Physician-Patient and Physician-Physician)-will take over the less formalisable part of the Physician-Patient protocol, including verbal communication and in the future also non-verbal one-signs. CICF could be stored and used as a proof in the treatment process-it could also serve as a case base in the tutorial process

I-type activity-development of an expert diagnosis system,based on CICF and also the interpretation of verbal and non-verbal clinical signs

S-type activity-Built-up of self-developing knowledge bases for various severe diseases,including:

-usual and unusual symptoms;

-usual and specific treatment;-connexion with ESKE-KSSOH with PatiMon as one of the nodal centres for self-developing knowledge seeds development

I-type activity-Development of intelligent learning systems(stand-alone and e-learning) for knowledge dissemination
