Pumacy Technologies AG provides state-of-the-art consulting, research and development services in the realm of knowledge management. Our team combines long-standing experience with innovative know-how from diverse backgrounds, offering comprehensive solutions to structure, network and operate knowledge.

In today’s global economy, the production, assessment and classification of knowledge is one of the decisive competitive advantages for companies to persist in the market. At the same time, structuring knowledge is one of the most complex subjects of information technology. Not only are there technical problems to be solved, but also, numerous organisational and psychological questions have to be answered. We develop holistic concepts, evaluate possible solutions and define adequate implementation strategies for the selected tools in our department for Knowledge Management Solutions.

Structured knowledge is only as valuable for a company’s success as it is easily accessible.  Today’s diversification of work processes requires that relevant data be available from different sites for authorised personnel whenever needed. Flexible, efficient and powerful networks that support both user identification and authentication are therefore indispensable for effortless and secure data communication. We develop, implement and maintain company-wide knowledge infrastructures and provide for secure mobile access in our department for Network & Mobile Computing.

Increasing product complexity and quality standards as well as the need to lower costs and the time to market require data from diverse sources during all phases of industrial production. In this process, knowledge can only be applied purposefully when the entire life cycle of a product is taken into account, from the first idea through development and production, the integration of suppliers and customers to the recycling of the product. We offer a holistic approach by analysing needs, selecting systems and implementing comprehensive solutions and strategies in our department for Product Lifecycle Management.

Project MobilAbility -

Researching and developing a mobile content infrastructure to boost navigation ability of citizens with special needs.

Increasingly, mobile information technology devices assist people in their daily life. Among other things, they help citizens to manage their addresses and appointments, support their navigation through foreign cities and to unknown destinations, and provide them with public, cultural and other event information, as more and more cities implement mobile information and navigation systems within their boundaries. However, the targeted user group of such offers is in the majority of the cases limited to the non-handicapped. Citizens with special needs, such as the elderly or people with disabilities cannot participate in these aspects of the information technology society even though they might necessitate such support the most. This exclusion is often merely due to a lack of appropriate platforms and / or mobile devices that do not take into account their particular requirements. This is where the envisaged project steps in. mobilAbility will research, develop, implement and demonstrate a content-based infrastructure for citizens with special needs that provides them with up-to-date location-based information and navigation aid whenever and wherever they need it. This infrastructure will be based on new developments in Ambient Intelligence. AI will be the means to overcome boundaries to the use of information technology by this particular user group. With the help of Ambient Intelligence applications, hardware, software and platforms will be enabled to know their users’ particularities and resulting requirements. Thus, mobilAbility will increase their ability to move around self-determinedly, by ameliorating the dissemination of appropriate data that will be personalised regarding interests, language and disability supported. Distribution of the multilingual and multicultural content functions via especially enabled Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs). These handhelds will be fitted to the needs of disabled people by introducing voice steering, Braille keyboard and other suitable user platform adaptations. Also, the content will be adjusted and supplemented according to the requirements of people with disabilities so that the infrastructure will be able to support the sight-, hearing and mobility impaired both content- and platform-wise, thus better integrating them into the information society. The project idea can also be integrated into an even more comprehensive Integrated Project.
