tek: Tekever, Portugal

Tekever is an European SME information technology company based in Portugal. The main activity is software development for embedded systems, Internet, wireless networks (GSM, GPRS, UMTS, Bluetooth) and system integration namely several hardware devices).

Tekever's staff is mainly formed by graduates in software, computer and electronic engineering, with skills in hardware/software integration, real-time systems and experience in several software projects.

In artificial intelligence area we have experience in: multiple AI agents, search techniques, Bayesian systems (decision), genetic algorithms, planning, data mining  and fuzzy logic.

The projects tekever is working now include navigation units, software integration with PDA's, GPS units and communication using GSM or GPRS.

We are also developing several Internet-based applications.

In the embedded area we are experienced in OS9, Xilinx and Linux embedded operative systems using Java, VHDL, C and C++ programming languages. We use a custom Linux distribution in embedded systems and small Java Virtual Machines in portable devices with limited resources.

These and other projects contributed to present know-how:

·        Experience in OS9, Xilinx and Linux embedded operative systems using Java, VHDL, C and C++ programming languages.

·        Other programming languages: Java Card, GSM SIM Toolkit, Embedded VC++, Embedded VB, Javascript, VBscript, and others.

·        A customized Linux distribution is used in embedded systems projects.

·        Use of small Java Virtual Machines in portable devices with limited resources.

·        Software design and development.

·        Wireless technologies.

·        Communication Protocols: GSM (SMS, CSD, HSCSD), GPRS, 802.11b, Bluetooth, IrDA, TCP/IP, HTTP;

·        Java Enterprise applications (J2EE), CORBA, XML.

·        Web technologies.

·        Web servers: Apache, Tomcat and Jboss with HTTP/HTTPS communication. Client Interfaces: HTML, JSP, Applet, MIDlet, PDA and Servlet.

·        Use of XST/XSLT for interface information format change. Use of XML for transmitting data between server and clients.

·        Mobile terminals: PDA and SMART/Java phones.

·        SQL/Relational Data Bases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Informix, MySQL).

·        Navigation terminals: GPS/EGNOS, ESRI Shapefiles, C-MAP.

·        Operative systems: Windows, Linux, Unix, PocketPC 2002, Symbian EPOC, Palm OS, Embedded Linux, Pocket Linux.

·        Artificial intelligence - intelligent agents, search algorithms, genetic algorithms, planning and fuzzy logic.
