Centro Sistemi Virtual Reality CSVR-O.D.A.  

The Association Opera Diocesana Assistenza of Catania - Italy, is a non profit making organisation – PNP - which operates in the Sicilian Province of Catania in the assistance, health specialisations, rehabilitation, and educational and social activities for subjects with problems of hardship, mental, psychiatric and learning disabilities, drug addiction, and the elderly, adolescents and young with social, cultural and family disadvantages ( more than 2000 patients ).

It employs more than 600 personnel, operators and consultants, with daily activities in various structures, in convention with the Italian National Health Service, Sicily.

The Centro Sistemi Virtual Reality  - CSVR -  is an Agency of Innovative Orientation created by the Association Opera Diocesana Assistenza - O.D.A. - of Catania to provide operational continuity after having promoted and implemented the Horizon project “HAND.WORK” (1019/E2/H/E) from 1996 to 2000.

At present the CSVR performs activities of innovative methodology Virtual Reality in  Evaluation and Budget Competences field, above all, in those of Mental and Psychologically Disabled young people.

·       The CSVR has elaborated and specially realized, by the VR methodology, a specialistic Diagnostic Model, that allows Competences, Potentialities, individual Autonomies to be in relief. 

·       This Model, called INTEGRATED VR PROFILE *,  finds the real Abilities and Potentialities of every subject, and through the VR Integrated Functional Diagnosis it analytically describes the lines of intervention required, personalized, direct to the Orientation. 

·       CSVR has recently obtained the acceptance of  " Virtual Reality Assessment for Mental Handicap" project within the initiatives P.O.R. 2002-2006 Sicily Region,  Axle III, Measure 3.04,   1999/IT.16.1.PO.011/3.04/7.2.4/050.

·       In CSVR it is possible to program and to realize the activity in these sectors: 

-         Innovative Evaluation of the competences and learnings.

-         Partner-working Orientation and Evaluation of the necessary supports.

-         Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Evaluation of the autonomies and support.

-         Neuropsychological Rehabilitation and Evaluation of the potentialities and interventions.

-         Plannings, Experimentations, Virtual Reality Search.

-         Consultation and demonstration of Virtual Reality applications.

 
3.2 Contribution to CARiMan (see proposal CARiMan2.pdf):

CSVR intends to contribute on activities of CARIMAN.But: 

1- OK as JPA-Manager, for  A1, with NIEB ( as indicated above, if NIEB is according)

Objectives / Description of work

To develop high-level knowledge-based description of patient data and signals

To develop machine learning and decision support system that will adapt to each specific user

To develop communication / knowledge acquisition from the physician, based on the high-level description of patient signals and data

To valuate the utility of such technology in risk factor assessment, diagnosis, and treatment follow-up

CV of the partners

PietroAntonio PICCINI. Born in Bergamo, Italy, the august 7 1954. Ph.D. in Psychology to Padova, 1978. From 1982, Psychologist of the O.D.A. in Catania, for some activity in neuropsychology, rehabilitation, formation of the personnel, organization of équipe and community, for interventions with children / teen-agers with Psychic, Mental and Social Disabilities. From 1998 to 2000, scientific-technician Responsible of the Project UE ADAPT / Horizon (N. 1019/E2/H/R) for the O.D.A CT and of the Transnational Project Horizon-ACCES. At present Director of the Agency Centro Sistemi Virtual Reality-CSVR. Scientific-technician Proposer and Responsible of the FSE Funds–Agenda 2000, POR- project:“ Virtual Reality Assestment for Mental Disabilities”, starting may 2003. Psychotherapist, expert advisor in Neuropsychology, childish and adolescent Psychology. Varied publications and collaborations with the University of Catania, Neurochildish Psychiatry, Psycho Pedagogy, Social Psychology and Knowledge Technologies sectors.

Massimo Turrisi. Born in Catania, Italy, the may 26 1966. Ph.D. in  Biology to Catania, 1993. From  1994     to 1997,  Tutor of the O.D.A. in  Catania for some activity on  UE-F.S.E. - Human Resources Training and Formation. From 1998 to 2000, Experienced Operator in CSVR ODA CT of the Project UE ADAPT / Horizon (N. 1019/E2/H/R) . At present Expert Collaborator in CSVR - ODA CT, for activities and applications in Virtual Reality and informatic - specialistic health network. Varied pubblications and speaker on this sector. Responsible webmaster site CSVR, and with Piccini edit of “Summary  of Virtual Reality Activity in CSVR”, for Project U.E. Horizon - O.D.A. Catania, 2001. Expert and technical manager in SoS Informatica, italian SME, for activities on IT.

 

Dr. Antonino SCHILIRO’. Born in Catania, Italy, the october 31 1954. Ph.D. in  Economy to Catania, 1979. From 1980, Responsible of the O.D.A. in Catania, for some activity in administration and management. From 1998 to 2000, management Responsible of the Project UE ADAPT / Horizon (N. 1019/E2/H/R) for the O.D.A CT and of the Transnational Project Horizon-ACCES. From 1992, Expert and Responsible in management, planning, administration on varied UE initiatives in the specialistic health and training sectors. At present Director of the Administration central office O.D.A. in Catania. Expert advisor in Human Resources management.

 

Rossana  SPAMPINATO.  Born in Catania in 1976, sex female. PH.D. Student in   Foreign Languages and Art, near University of  Studies in Catania. With dissertation on “ Innovative Technologies and Assestment System for VR/VEs on evaluation and assestment”. At the present, operator in CSVR- Centro Sistemi Virtual Reality- ODA – from Catania in the same time  collaborator in the Staff of CSVR, for the planning and realization of VE initiatives realized in CSVR.

 

Domenico MAZZONE.  Born on September 9th 1941 in Catania,  where he attended the Medical Faculty of the  Catania University.  On  25th November  1965 he gratuated with honours getting the  dignity of the press and the degree prize “E. Cacace”. He became on 1968 a  specialist in Pediatrics and on 1971 in Children’s Neuropsychiatry with full marks at the University of Messina.  Since 1984-85 he was Associated Professor of Pediatric Neurology . Included among the winners of the competition announced by Naple University Federico 2° for Ordinary Professor, he has unanimousely been called by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Catania to teach “Neuropsichiatria Infantile” since 2001-2002 . Since 1991-92 he has been  professor of Child Neurology and Psychiatry at the Medical Faculty of the University, teaching at medical students as well at pediatric and neuropsychiatry specializings. Since  2002-03 he has been called to teach Child Neurology and Psychiatry at the Faculty of Psychology in the University of Catania. Since 2001 he is Director of the School for Child Neurology and Psychiatry.  He has been the President of 19° Meeting of the Italian Child Neurology and Psychiatry Society organized in Catania from 14th to 17th of october, 2002. He is the Author of about 220 publications and co-worker of  3  books concerning child neurological and psychiatric topics. He is a Partner and the principal collaborator in CSVR.
