Intrest of University of Aalborg, Esbjerg:

An important cornerstone of the PatiMon project is the surveillance of sensor measurements done by the system. The following aspects will be considered:

Short CV and Experience of Volker Krüger:

Volker Krüger has received his Diploma at the University of Kiel in 1996. His thesis was a joint research project with Prof. G. Sandini at University of Genoa and Prof. Sommer at the University of Kiel. In 2001 he received his Ph.D with distinction. His supervisor was Prof. Sommer at the University of Kiel. The topic of the thesis was concerned with probabilistic learning and recognition with Gabor wavelet network.

In Aug. 2000 he has joined the University of Maryland and was the leading scientist on the U.S. Government (DARPA) funded Human Identification at a Distance (HID) project with an annual budget of 1Mio.$.

Since Aug. 2002, Volker Krüger is an Assoc. Prof. at the Medialogy group, Aalborg University, Esbjerg.

His major research interest is probabilistic approaches for machine learning, machine perception and recognition from time sequences for the purpose of object, face and action recognition.

Short CV and Experience of Tony Brooks:

Tony Brooks is a performing and conceptual artist and researcher. He has presented his work at numerous international conferences and events, lecturing widely at universities, colleges, and institutes worldwide. His work, titled "Soundscapes," is currently being researched at the Center for Brain Injury, Copenhagen University, Denmark, with the support of a government grant. He has a company which is centered around the research and development of his concept, - - a concept based on non-verbal communication through interacting with music and images - - which is being realized in the production of a non-wearable sensor system for motion capture. This translates movement into real-time control and manipulation of musical and visual feedback. His work was recently based at the Center for Advanced Visualization and Interactivity (CAVI) in Aarhus, Denmark.
Currently, he utilizes the body as his instrumental interface within a self-created VIS (Virtual Interactive Space) that can translate his gestures into audio-visual feedback. As compositional tools in his work, Tony uses brain waves, muscle tension, heartbeats, GSR, and other biofeedback sources as well as the air space that surrounds the body.
He is also involved in the European 5th Framework IST project 'CARE HERE'  (Creating Aesthetic Resonant Environments for Handicapped, Elderly and REhabilitation).

His major research interests are:

·         Human Computer Interaction and multi sensory multidisciplinary applications.

·         Human centred design for rehabilitation, habilitation & elderly.

·         Pervasive/Ubiquitous computing & Mixed, augmented & virtual reality research

·         Music and the creation of new interactive performance systems.
