CST CornerSoft Technologies , SRL is a Romanian company located in Bucharest, Romania being responsible for software project specification, SM design and development. CST -RO also performs research activities regarding speech processing, enterprise/project management and data security as well as provides consulting services for vertical markets.

CST is using audio/video conferencing and Voice over IP communication facilities in addition to classical telephone and fax communication services, as the communication infrastructure all over the group. As an international group we pay special attention to access and data security issues. Our office local area networks are implemented as a DMZ which provides the data exchange in a secure working environment. The security and monitoring system we have implemented protects ours and our customers data. Project scheduling and tracking, resource allocation and activity reports, issues and changes as well as quality assurance are managed by our "online" web-based VEMS tools, developed in house.

These provide for more efficient project management activities despite the geographically dispersed nature of teams and their activities involved in common projects. VEMS - Virtual Enterprise Management System is our ultimate on line enterprise management system merging the experience we have on project management and quality system management.

Skills and contributions of CST organization

As you’ve already seen from our previous email, one of our expertises covers

management and decision support systems development. One of them is the VEMSTM

(Virtual Enterprise Management System). At first, we developed this system for the

management of our distributed team’s work that is spread around the world same as our

clients are. Historically speaking VEMSTM is an iterative research spreading over 4 years

of work, starting with the development of a project management module, continuing with

the user management, document and workflow management, communication

management and the last research is the quality assurance module. As it is a scalable,

integrated and web enabled system we intend to customize it and develop new features

for different areas of activities such as healthcare, e-Health or tele-Healthcare and patient

monitoring is one of the most challenging ones.

So you may use VEMS to coordinate the project activities on one hand and on the other

hand we may use VEMS as core functionality for PatiMon. We can take into account the

average of 60,000.00 development hours already encapsulated by CST in the

development of VEMSTM, that might turn into a rapid to market deployment prototype of

the PatiMon

Another expertise we may provide to the Consortium would be a software development

resources pool. Each project member might use the pool as his own resources.

For more details about CST please read the company profile, attached as a file or please

go to http://www.cst.ro.

CST contribution to JPA

B.4.2

A1: Communication patient – physician

- The PatiMon having VEMS as core functionality, might be interfaced on line or

off line with medical devices or environmental aspects measuring devices so that

the assigned physician might monitor the patient’s status from home using an

internet browser or the monitoring personal may get the information regarding

any environmental aspects in due time.

A2: Communication physician – physician /student: Web based and distance learning,

psychology, sociology, sustainable technology, and knowledge transfer.

- We intend to add to VEMS user management module an e-Learning feature.

S2: Knowledge Management and Data Base System

- The improvement of the user management module of VEMSTM. We intend to add

new features in order to upgrade this module to a global distributed and scalable

portal where the ePhysician (with certain credentials) can find the medical records

(including the medical records for hiring personal) of any person he has access to

the system together with drug use entries, treatment (incl. balneology), life

insurance records, non-life insurance records (car, building,..), fiscal record,

professional skills and evolution, work card, properties records, residency records,

family records, military status, id card, children links, rents and other. Base on the

portal information advance analysis like data mining and reporting techniques

may be applied to find out some individual or group health trends for individual

or group preventive actions or for urgent interventions like accidents. It is well

known that the first aid during accidents can save lives, and an updated medical

record which may be accessed wireless on accident site would be of great help.

- What about, ISO18000 compliance for the organizations like hospitals, plants,

family physicians, that use the PatiMon system.?

- If we talk about stress management, we have a research together with another

Romanian partner based on a device produced by the Heartmath Institute to

measure and monitor the stress level of an individual or a group.

T3: Transmission and interfaces, security of data transmission (wireless and on the web).

- We intend also to develop a security shell which is a very important feature of a

system like PatiMon regarding privacy and personal identity aspects.

B.4.4 Management Activities

- The whole project management IT infrastructure, document repository, user

management, communication management and quality management through

VEMSTM.

- Another CST contribution to JPA would be a software development pool of

developers.

These are only a couple of possible collaborations that we may further more detail in

order to asses the work package provided by CST.

Advices, constructive critics and contributions

We would be also interested to continue one of our researches that has as main goal to

build a check system based on facial expressiveness analysis by facial pattern recognition

and facial animation. Facial expressiveness analysis by facial pattern recognition and

facial animation might be used for patient monitoring and diagnose, too. What do you

think about opening such a research activity probably under A1, A2, S2 or T3, T4

activities? If you think it is under the focus of PatiMon project we may add this to the rest

of the CST work package described in

Skills_and_contributions_of_CST_organization.pdf file.

MPEG-4 will be used as the graphic data representation. Neural Networks will be used as

processing paradigm.

The MPEG-4 standard specifications bring a new way of coding information by using

audiovisual objects, instead of considering only rectangular video frame with associated

audio. These objects can be retrieved or originated either locally or remotely. One of the

most important objects in the MPEG-4 standard is the human face.

The MPEG-4 standard provides the receiver with the freedom either to choose its own

proprietary model or to use the sender model and to configure this model, depending to

the existent data and the desired options for playing the scene.

Independent of the complexity of the face, a sufficiently high frame rate and a good

rendering quality of the face is demanded. These requests can be met using a fast graphic

engine. These considerations lead to Neural Networks as the computing vehicle and to

OpenGL, which is an API for advanced video cards, providing fast and accurate drawing

of complex scenes.
