Institute of Control and System Research (ICSR) is a research institute with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS). It has more then 50 fellows permanent academic staff and more then 20 - technical staff. The activities of ICSR are related to wide range of fields such as control design of industrial processes, sensors’ technology development, modeling of energy systems, intelligent motion control design of autonomous dynamic objects, development of e-commercial product applications and development of imaging software algorithms. The departments of ICSR are followings:

·      Sensor Systems and Modeling

·      Knowledge-Based Control Systems

·      Adaptive and Robust Control

·      Hybrid Systems and Management

·      Optimal Control

·      Scientific Research, Applications and Training

·      Lab of Research and Development of Technical Systems

The main achievements of the ICSR could be summarized as:

·        Modeling of biotechnological, ecological and chemical processes based on measured signals and expert information; Development of conventional (deterministic), intelligent (fuzzy and neural) models and models of biotechnological processes taking into account memory effects for prediction and process optimization purposes; Development of methods and procedures for on-line state and parameter estimation of technological processes; Development of methods and algorithms for robust, adaptive and fuzzy control of technological processes.

·        Investigation and application of sensors and micro-sensors; Development of intelligent sensor systems, micro-systems, actuators and interface, non-contact automatic sensor hardware and software applied in the automatic control system.

·        Design, specification and implementation of soft computing and adaptive human-computer interfaces, mobile computing, wired and wireless network technologies and information and communication technologies. Analysis and synthesis of information and control systems for National Power System.

·        Modeling and intelligent motion control of autonomous dynamic objects via learning structures and parallel transputer nets, methods for unconditional and conditional optimization, state estimation of dynamic objects, Kalman filtration, association, integration and data fusion from sensory information systems.

Description of the ICSR team contributions to JPAs of PatiMon

-           Knowledge Management and Data Base System (S2) development by storing and retrieving the information and by applying Soft computing methods as neural networks approach for the process of patterns' storage and fuzzy technique for proceeding of subjective and uncertain information.

-      Signal processing, classification, recognition and evaluation (T4). Development of fuzzy reasoning methods and fuzzy clustering procedures for recognition and classification of the signals received from the patient monitoring devices enable to cover both exact and uncertain information. Elaboration of methods and procedures meant to support and optimization of the decision process using fuzzy-rule based models.

-     Communication tasks (S1) by elaboration of mobile-based software supporting health professionals in taking promptly the best possible decision for prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Development of mobile Client/Server technology for network management and intuitive user interface for communication between remote sensors and pre-processing units, Data Base and Knowledge Management Systems
