The aim of this work area is to develop a method and system to optimize the mountain area safety in the view of possible mountain hazards like snow avalanches, floods, debris flows and landslides. These hazards are inherent in the nature of mountain regions but in addition increased stress has been put on the mountain environment during the past decades and centuries by human interference: economic and population growth. Another aspect to be considered in this relation is the change of climate which might have triggered several grieve mountain catastrophes within the past years and also alters seasonal patterns of tourism (eg. skiing in winter). Therefore avalanche warning and hazard mapping are important means to meet the increasing risks in this area and a comprehensive risk management with a systematic approach is a crucial factor for the mountain socio-economic system and industry. The risk management in this relation has to include prevention strategies and emergency management. Moreover, many mountain countries rely to a great part on mountain tourism industry and an efficient warning and emergency system is  vital for the strength of their economy.
